Managing Style with Youth
Never underestimate what young minds can bring to the table! I have always had a strong philosophy for working alongside my staff. Accessing the concerns that arise and making a game plan together, instead of micromanaging or dictating the outcomes. Everyones business model and personal managing styles are different, but mutual respect between your employees and yourself should be a leading factor.
As humans we all have the need to be listened to and heard, that is no different in the workplace. This approach ensures growth especially for the youth in your office, allowing them the space to learn as they go, with regular check-ins and support. Don't let age be a restriction on your business, just focus on finding the RIGHT humans.

Progress is not linear
Thoughts over the past week...
We all know the quote 'Progress is not linear' and if not, we should. It is the greatest reminder for when you feel stuck, lost, have lost momentum or feel you have no sight of your path. Remembering this simple quote is a fantastic tool to reframe your mindset and reaffirm to yourself that the downs are all a part of the progress and process. You can't move forward without going up & down on the scale. The journey to your goals, to greatness and to success will never be a straight arrow upwards. A true measure of success can only be seen after downfalls, roadblocks and overcoming of hard times, that's what makes the good parts oh so good!
We also all know that comparison is your minds worst enemy. You cannot truly focus on your path and aspirations, if your mind is constantly being distracted and your pride is being 'punched' by the successes of others. This can only lead to a darker and uninspired path. By celebrating others successes, you can use their growth as evidence that you too can achieve great things. Instead of framing others as competition or a reflection of where you should be, look at their journey as a positive influence.
If you're feeling stuck, a great way to get yourself moving is to place physical reminders of what's important to you in areas you will see every day. Pop a quote that you resonate with on the bathroom mirror. Screenshot and print out this image of progress not being linear and pop it on your fridge as a constant reminder that if you keep trying, you will get to where you want to be.
Little reminders for anyone who is feeling stuck:
🌟 Just because you can't see the finish line, doesn't mean you aren't close
🌟 Comparision is poison to your brain, focus on YOUR path
🌟 The journey forward will always have downfalls & roadblocks
🌟 If you're feeling like you get no support from your agency & principal, I am always open to confidential chats!
Friday Gratitude
A bit of Friday gratitude... I'm so thankful that as a team we have an amazing network with high-quality partnerships surrounding us. In a changing market it is more important that ever to band together, spread around our shared knowledge and work as a team. Whether it's Dene from RE/MAX head office coming in to share market knowledge and inspire motivation in the team, to Anish from Pivotal keeping us up to date on the Finance side of things, all these connections are worth their weight in gold and should be held onto tightly!

Office Environment impact on Health & Wellbeing
There’s nothing better than walking into a beautiful space in the morning. “While office trends come and go, one thing that does not change is the impact that the office environment has on employee health and wellbeing. A quality workspace design leads to a less stressful and more productive atmosphere. Employees need to feel comfortable and calm in their physical work settings to produce their best work.” Forbes Article ‘Our Office Space Impacts Employee Well-Being’ 2019.
Whilst working with the designer of this space, I wanted to create a calm and relaxing environment. She suggested a great way to do this by incorporating plants and homely décor. Numerous scientific studies have proven the positives of having more greenery in your workspace. They help reduce stress, increase productivity, help to reduce sickness and absence rates, clean the air, make the workspace attractive to both clients & prospective agents and boost creativity. Plus - its atheistically pleasing, win-win!
Create Your Own Luck!
When looking at a successful person, whose shoes you want to be in, this position can seem unreachable, unfair and their successes attributed to ‘just plain luck’ – when one has the wrong mindset. I recently read an article that discusses the roles that Luck and Hard Work play in amounting to success, and how the two coincide. Whilst we can acknowledge great successes take a certain percentage of luck, it perfectly explained the common phrase “Create your own luck”. This phrase debunks the ‘just plain luck’ mindset for those who, without realising it, are putting their dreams in the too hard basket, by not converting them to goals, nor acknowledging the hard work contributions it takes.
“You can increase your surface area for good luck by taking action. The forager who explores widely will find lots of useless terrain, but is also more likely to stumble across a bountiful berry patch than the person who stays home.” Essentially, you create your own luck by putting in hard work and therefore allowing more possibilities of good or lucky circumstances to come your way. It can be easy to think of this hard work as punishment rather than a steppingstone to success. “It doesn’t matter how successful or unsuccessful you are right now. What matters is whether your habits are putting you on the path toward success. You should be far more concerned with your current trajectory than with your current results.” If you’re the forager who is exploring rather than the one sitting at home, you’re controlling the slope of your success, rather than waiting for it to happen.
Gary Player, the famous golfer and winner of nine major championships, has said, “The harder I practice, the luckier I get.” Want to be lucky???

Are you ready to open new doors?
Are you ready to open new doors?... Making big changes in life is always an anxiety inducing feat, no matter what it is. However, in order to grow, you must go through discomforts. Living in fear of jumping out of your comfort zone will keep you stagnant.
Each day we all have 86,400 seconds, it’s entirely your choice what you do with them. You can either keep living the life that just gets you by, where you’re not happy OR break out and take a chance. Remember, you never get more time than what is given. Use the time you have right now to take control of your life and live it the best way possible.
“Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying somewhere you don’t belong”.
